Staying fresh and healthy in your home is extremely important given the amount of time we normally spend there. From keeping a sanitary environment to quick workouts, here are some tips you can implement to improve your health from performing simple activities around your home:
Cleaning
Cleaning
- Change the sponge you use to wash the dishes every 10 days because germs that you might not see are there and can possibly make you sick. Bacteria like salmonella and staphylococcus grow in them. For those of you who don't want to spend the money or create more waste, you can put them in the microwave for 30 seconds when they are dry or for 60 seconds when they are wet to kill the bacteria. Don't forget your shower sponge also.
- Clean things that you usually use but you don't clean so often at least once a week. These are things like your water bottle, cookie jar, fruit basket, your toothbrush glass, combs etc.
- Change the air filters periodically. This is something that we often forget and is really important for the air quality we breathe. Remember that a lot of viruses can be transmitted through air.
- Clean the carpets often (not just vacuuming) to avoid the germs that can harm you without knowing it.
- Keep you gums healthy when you brush your teeth and preferably used soft bristles to not hurt your gums. Also, try not apply too much pressure when you brush your teeth as this can hurt the tissue that covers your gums and pull it away from your teeth. When brushing your gums, do it at a 45 degree angle and use a light hand as though you were massaging them.
- Work out every day no matter what. This is one of the most important thing when talking about being healthy. Do a workout video or dance at home. Whatever you do, it will be a major benefit to your body. And if you have no time to do anything one day, double it the next day so your body not only burns more calories, but will build more resistance as well. Another added benefit is that exercise will help your mood as it releases endorphins throughout your body.
- Have some fresh fruits for breakfast and start your day with a lot of vitamins and minerals the natural way. Remember that drinking fruit juice isn't just good for your body, but you also need the fiber that only fruits can give you.
- Eat strawberries and green peppers to raise your immune system. Just 6 strawberries have more Vitamin C than one 500 mg. tablet.
